This isn't my usual style of furniture...
It's too "modern" and a bit sterile for my tastes. I'm more into total kitschy-looking stuff.
But since I'm in Palm Springs, I gotta fit in, even if it's just a little bit... right? Haha, I kid.
Anyway, I picked up this George Mulhauser Plycraft lounge chair and ottoman for an insanely low price not long ago.
My best friend Jeff's mom's house is RAD. Rad lighting fixtures, even radder sandstone walls, and plenty of RAD furniture to fill it. Since she's a widow, she's slowly been getting rid of pieces that have been hanging around for a bit. This Plycraft chair was one of them. I've been eyeing this chair for years.
I bought a Heywood Wakefield dining table from her... wow, three years ago. (See THIS POST).
She told me that she was going to get rid of the Plycraft set, and I had it on my mind ever since. I had just put it on the back burner, as I have been busy since then (or would remember that I wanted to buy that chair at 3 am, when it would wake me out of a dead sleep).
The two purchases combined only cost me $100!
Even though it won't fit 100% with my decor... I'm keeping it around. It is seriously one of those most comfortable things I've ever sat in. As in, kick back and take a nap. The kid in me loves that it tilts and swivels! I told Franco it can be his "cigar chair" or a piece to put in his studio.
